Merida and Ian walked down the path towards the lake near their town. Merida was wearing her normal pink frilly dress with white shoes and a pink bow in her red hair. Ian wore a blue shirt with black jeans and sneakers. ---- Town was a small town off the coast of Lake Gyrados. The two were holding hands. “We will be friends forever right? Even when we grow up?” the little girl asked her green eyes full of unasked questions. “Yea…” the little boy said giving her a small smile then looked off into the distance. “I wonder when my mommy will let me get my own pokemon. I love her pyroar he gives me rides and lays with me when I have nightmares.” Merida said with a content smile. “Um… Merida. There is something I have been meaning to tell you for a while…” Ian said breaking the happy mood with a single tear sliding down his cheek. “Whats wrong?” she asked getting close to her friend. “Um… my family and I are moving away to Lumoise City…” he said. Merida’s face gloomed with a frown and tears. “W-what…?” she asked through the tears. “We are leaving tomorrow…” he added. Merida felt as if two tons of pure heart break and sadness was dumped on top of her. “That’s not fair! You have to stay!!!” she screamed grabbing her friends arm. “I cant do anything about it my mommy said we have to leave because my dad found a job there and its too far away for him to drive back and forth.” Ian explained trying to calm down the fretting child. “NO!” she cried. “Ian! Time to come home!” Ian’s mom called from the hill top. “Coming mom! I will say good bye before I leave okay?” Ian replied looking at his friend. Merida used her arm to wipe her tears and nodded. “Promise?” she asked. “Promise.” Ian replied then ran up the hill to his mom. Ian whispered in his mom ear and she nodded. Merida walked up the hill as the sun set on the lake. She looked behind her and though she saw a pokemon sticking its head out of the water. Rubbing her eyes she looked back it was gone. The next day Merida waited outside as Ian’s parents packed up the car. Ian came out and placed a pokeball in her hands. “My mom and I went out yesterday and got this for you. Don’t open it until you get back home. We talked to your mom about it, take good care of him.” Ian said. He then hugged her tightly and laid a gentle kiss on her cheek. “Goodbye.” She cried. “Goodbye.” He said then climbed into his car and drove away. When his car was out of sight Merida went to her room and closed the door. “Come out… um whatever you are.” She said tossing the pokeball. An eevee came out of the pokeball and landed on the bed. “Eeveeee.” It said with a smile. “Aww your cute!” she said petting the eevee’s head. “Merida.” Her mom said with a knock. “yea mom?” she said making fake crying noises. “Oh sweetie I was going to head into Striaton city. Would you like to join you can bring your eevee.” She said. “Okay mommy be right out. Lets go.” She said to the eevee. “eev!” he said as he followed her. When they reached the city three kids were standing by a pokemon gym. “Hey mom can I go play with the other kids?” Merida asked. “Okay but be careful.” Her mom said. Merida nodded and ran up to the three kids. “Hi! Im Merida I live in ---- town a little ways from here.” She said introducing. The red haired boy stepped in front of his brother. “Hi! Im chille and this is Pansear. He is the best pokemon ever!” he boasted. “This is eevee, he is cute… yea that’s all I know about him.” She said. “He is cute. Im Cilan…” the green haired boy started but was cut off by another boy yelling. The boy had a watchdog with him. “Ha! That’s all you know about him what a wimp!” He said pushing Merida over. “Hey!” Chile yelled. As he helped her up. The two other brothers watched the boy’s watchog stare down Merida’s Eevee. “Jacob! What are you doing to that poor girl!?” a man asked angrily as he walked over. “nothing dad…” the boy said. “When I said you could borrow watchdog I didn’t mean use it to be a bully to the other kids! Go back to the house and tell your mother what you did.” He said. Jacob nodded and shot a glare at Merida as he walked back to the house. “You should know better.” The an said to the watchog. “Watchooog.” The pokemon groaned sorrowfully. “I apologize for the trouble please carry on.” The man said then walked away. Merida looked down at her eevee. “Did he hurt you when he pushed you down?” Cilan asked reaching a hand out to her. She hit his hand away. “No! Leave me alone!” she cried as she ran off towards the pokecenter her mom was in. Merida, after that day, did not visit Striaton City unless she had to. Several years had passed and Merida was 17 years old. “Hmmm I wonder what Professor Juniper wanted.” Merida said to her eevee as the two walked down the street towards Striaton City. She stopped at the entrance to the city her bad experience there still haunted around in her head. “eev?” the eevee asked. “Oh im fine just thinking…” she replied. After she was about half way into the city a crowd stirred up in the plaza. “oooooh.” She moaned. Her eevee looked up at her and smiled, then took off into the crowd. “eevee! Wait stop!” she called out after unwillingly she ran into the crowd. “Excuse me! Pardon me! Sorry! Coming through!” Merida yelled as she pushed through the crowd in attempt of catching the running creature. The eevee looked down an ally and smiled mischievously. He turned the corner sharply heading down the ally. Merida followed and smashed into someone. The force of impact knocked her over. “Owww…” she moaned as she looked up. She noticed a familiar green haired boy rubbing his head. “Oh my! Are you okay!?” she yelped as she helped him up. “Whats the rush?” the boy asked curiously. “My eevee ran off and I saw him run down here when I turned the corner BAM! I ran into you… im s discombobulated this morning. I have the bump to prove it.” She sighed. “Okay… Wait eevee? There is only one person I know with an Eevee. Merida?” the boy asked. “yes…” she said softly backing up a little. “Maybe I damaged his brain…” she thought. “It’s me, Cilan!” he said. “Cilan! No wonder you looked familiar! It’s been a while.” She said. “So what have you been doing all these years?” Cilan asked. “Nothing really just training my eevee to be good at battling. I got a call from Professor Juniper.” She said. “Oh! You’re the one Im supposed to be looking for.” He said. “I guess…” she said, then her eevee jumped down from the building to the right of the ally into her arms. “Hey whats the big idea!?” she asked. Eevee smiled and pointed at Cilan. “Ugh you really irritate me sometimes. Show me where Professor Juniper’s building is.” Merida said. Cilan nodded and the two walked out of the ally and down the street. “Right in here.” He said showing her the entrance of an apartment like building. She entered the building and walked into a lab like room. Computers were beeping and machines tapping out numbers. “Hello Cilan, hello Merida nice to see you have arrived safely.” Professor Juniper said. “Good morning Professor. What is the reason of your call?” Merida asked. “Yes, my reason. I would like to know if you are interested in filling a pokedex for me.” Professor Juniper asked. “A pokedex?” she asked. “Yes, a device that fills out the information of pokemon you meet. Watch.” She said as she scanned Merida’s eevee with the pokedex. After the eevee was registered she handed the pokedex to Merida. “Also I have some pokemon to give you. You have a choice of three.” Professor Juniper explained as she tossed three pokeballs in the air. “Oshuwatt, Tepid, and Snivy.” She said showing Merida. “Wait, Im confused. What…” Merida replied. “She wants you to go on a journey and fill out the pokedex.” Cilan explained. “Oh okay… does my mom know?” She asked. “Yes I have talked with your mother and she said it was fine.” Professor Juniper said. “Okay…. So I pick out of these three?” She asked. Professor Juniper nodded. “Which one Eevee?” Merida asked looking down at the pokemon. The eevee looked at the Oshuwatt and nodded. “Eev!” he said with a blush and smile. “Okay then, I choose Oshawott!” she said with a smile.
